Vocabulary and Measuring!

We have been busy this week! Our class reviewed our vocabulary words on the smart board today. I asked who remembered the vocabulary words. Almost the whole class raised their hands. I had six students come up to the front and write the word, then draw a picture to describe them, and last tell a sentence to go along with the picture. They did such an excellent job!

SURFACE
I am standing on the carpet and the carpet is my surface.
SPACECRAFT
I took my spacecraft to the moon.
VISIBLE
I am sitting on my couch and the t.v. is visible.
FOOTPRINT
When I stepped in the mud I made a footprint.
DISCOVERED
I discovered an ant with my magnifying glass.
LUNAR
The moon is lunar.

The past two days we have been measuring objects using models. Today we used pattern blocks to measure items in our classroom because they are exactly an inch. We had 8 stations that we rotated to and measured. This class is such a hard working group. I am so proud of them!

When will spring be here?

We are really trying hard to bring spring into our classroom, because it sure isn't happening outside. It has been a crazy start to the month of April with the big storm and snow days. This week we have been busy with some art projects to get us into the "springy" mood. It has been a lot of fun. We also have been learning a lot! In math, our focus is on 2-d and 3-d shapes. Yesterday, we did an activity where we scooted around the classroom and named different 2-d and 3-d shapes. After we did that we scanned a qr code to find the answer. It is so much fun having the iPads available to use in the classroom. They sure come in handy! In reading we read a story called Ugly Vegetables. This story was really cute and also got us excited about spring and being able to plant a garden. Next week we will be planting a seed in hopes of growing a marigold. I am very excited to watch them grow! It has been very fun week and I am looking forward to next week! Enjoy the pictures of our spring projects below!
