Martin Luther King Jr.
Today we read a story about Martin Luther King Jr. We learned about his dream of all people being treated equally. Then, we played a game on the smartboard where we answered questions about MLK. I was so impressed with everyone! Out of the 9 questions we got all 9 correct! This afternoon we are going to come up with our own dreams for the world. I am so excited to see all of these. Check back later to see our project!

Elf Yourself and our Elf on the Shelf "Christmas"
Everyone in our classroom turned into an elf for the last week of school before christmas break and we even had an elf visit our classroom. Each day 3 students became an elf and they did a dance on the smartboard. The last day we had a bunch of the staff on the board. I think the entire class was surprised by this! The staff members even came to our classroom to watch themselves being elves.
The elf that visited our classrom was a very special elf. He was there to watch over us and to make sure we were on our best behavior. He liked to do silly things around the room when we were gone. I believe he did these things to get our attention and to remind us that he was there watching us. Our class voted on a name for the elf and chose "Christmas" out of 10 names.
While in our classroom, Christmas wrote a birthday note to McKenzie and sat at the bottom of her desk, he made a snow angel in the flour we used to make our santa ornaments, hung upside down from Llayson's name lights, and climbed to the top of our Christmas tree while holding toilet paper. Yep.... that silly little elf toilet papered our tree! Luckily he was a good elf and cleaned up after himself.
Who can tell me what kind of noun the underlined word is in the last paragraph?

King of the Jungle
Mr. Lund was the King of the Jungle this week in our classroom. He told us all about himself and even brought in a picture of when he was in second grade. I will let you know which one is him when we get back to school! It was a lot of fun to learn about our principal. Make sure you thank Mr. Lund for being our Kind of the Jungle. We have a mystery guest next week in our classroom. Here is a hint... It is going to be a Queen of the Jungle!
