100th Day of School!

We had our 100th day of school and it was a spectacular day! Each student had an assignment to make a project using 100 items. I am so impressed at all the hard work and effort put into these projects. They are absolutely AMAZING! We also made some fun crowns to wear. They said, "We are 100 days Smarter" and had 10 peices of paper with 10 shapes drawn on each one. That made 100 shapes on our hats! Check out our fun filled day below!

Valentine's Day Projects

The month of February has been full of projects. We did a valentine person for our bulletin board, made our valentine boxes, created valentines for our classsmates, and gave a heart valentine to our monkeys. You all did an amazing job! I am so proud of all your hard work.

Valentine People

Valentine Boxes

Each student had a homework assignment to write one nice thing about each student in the class. We compiled all the data and made these on www.wordle.net. Then, each student colored one for another student. They turned out really neat!

I Love to Read!

WOW! We have really kicked off this month with dad's reading in our classroom. Valerie's dad Randy came on Monday, Llayson's Dad Jayson came on Tuesday and Jeri's Grandpa Jerry came in today. Randy read us the book Be my Valentine Charlie Brown, Jayson read us the books The Cow that Laid an Egg and Johnny Appleseed, and Jerry read us the books The Little Red Hen and Grizzwold. It was three incredible days and we all can't wait to see who comes next!

Work really hard to get your dad, uncle, grandpa, or brother in to read to us!

The Lions Club of Newfolden came to our classroom yesterday. They brought each student a Magic Tree House book. A huge THANK YOU goes out to the Lions Club of Newfolden!

Brain Breaks and Learning Elapsed Time

We have had a lot of really cold days this year and have not made it outside for recess in a really long time. So we decided to get active in the classroom. We learned about volcanoes and did a bunch of movements like we were explorers in Hawaii. It was a blast!

On this brain break we were touring an ancient pyramid.

We have started working on elapsed time. The game they are playing is called "Clowning Around". They draw a problem solving card from the pile and read it out loud. Then, they have to solve the problem using the clock. If they get the answer correct they get to roll the die and move that many spaces.

Wanted: February Readers

The month of February is "I Love to Read" month. We are inviting dads, uncles, brothers, grandpas, etc. into our classroom to read to us. Mr. Vedbraaten came in to read the book Little Penguin to our class on Friday. Ian chose this book for him to read to the class! Then, all the students had a chance to ask him questions about being our SUPERintendent. We learned that he is very busy and works really hard for our school. Of course all the students were asking how their older siblings behaved in the school. We found out that ALL of the students at MCC are great students! Thank you Mr. Vedbraaten for being one of our February Readers!
