Classroom Happenings!
We have been so busy in the classroom that it has been hard to keep up with our blog. Last year the school purchased Lego kits. They are really neat and engaging! We are using an app on the iPad to create a comic strip to go along with the Lego setting created. They turned out amazing!
We had the spelling bee last week. Below are the four students who represented our class. Lily, Geneva, Hannah, and Isaiah C. Luke was also a contestant but he was home sick with the flu. They did an amazing job. It was their first spelling bee ever and they didn't even look nervous. I think I was more nervous in the crowd. I was very proud of them!

Christmas Program!
The Christmas Program the students put on was absolutely amazing! Mrs. Larson sure knows how to put on a show. I took a couple videos of the program that you can watch below. I am so proud of all the students. They put a lot of hard work into this program and it sure paid off. We also got a group picture of our class. Everyone was dressed so fancy! I sure enjoyed this evening!
Waiting so patiently!!
December
We have been very busy in our classroom. Last week was a tough week. I was gone for a technology conference on Monday and Tuesday that was very exciting and I have a lot of great ideas to bring back to our classroom. On Wednesday, I was able to be back in the classroom! But... on Thursday my daughter was sick and on Friday I got sick. We are all finally back to good health and hoping to stay that way!
We have been busy getting our classroom ready for Christmas. We made patterned stockings to make for our back bulletin board. Mrs. Anderson was the sub in our classroom when the stocking were made. They sure did turn out beautiful!

Our art project to display at the high school during the Christmas Program are below. We discussed warm and cool colors on the color wheel. They had to do either a warm snowman and a cool background or a cool snowman and a warm background. They turned out pretty neat. We have been working really hard on our cursive letters. Each student got to practice writing their name in cursive and put it on their art project to display their great work! You can click on the pictures to make them bigger. Hope you enjoy our projects!
Presents for our gift exchange are due on Wednesday. We will be having our party on Friday.

Tons of updating to do!
We have been so busy in the classroom that I haven't had any time to blog about it. So here goes!
Our spelling hoop has been a big hit again this year. If they pass the spelling pre-test on Wednesday they earn a shot at the hoop. Then, if they pass the bonus test on Thursday they earn another shot. Students still get a chance to pass the final test on Friday to earn a shot also. I have had so many students up to the spelling hoop this year. They sure are working hard on their words! Below is a picture of Geneva shooting. If they make the shot, they get to choose a prize from the treasure chest.

Four students completed the summer reading challenge. They each recieved a certificate and a pencil for their hard work! Way to go! The hard work and effort you do over the summer is spectacular!
We are really enjoying the iPads! One of our favorite apps to play is math slide. Students compete against each other on math facts and the fastest one to slide all their tiles to the middle wins. I see some great participation when they are working with the ipads. It is a great learning tool!
Noah's dad, Cody came to share fire safety with all the classes in Newfolden Elementary. It was very informational and the students loved it. He showed us some of the equipment they use and the safety tools we need if there was ever a fire. He gave all the students a homework assignment to visit with their parents and draw out a home fire escape plan. They sure put a lot of detail into this assignment and they came back great!
Two thank you letters for Cody!
We have so much more to share and it will be coming soon!
