Science Project with the Advanced Chemistry Class!

Ms. Melgaard's Advanced Chemistry students completed their Quarter project recently by teaching our 3rd graders a chemistry experiment. After the experiment high school and elementary students worked together to create a poster on the ipad about what they learned. This was a great learning experience and the kids had so much fun. I think every student in class asked me when we were going to do it again. Check out the awesome posters below to see the experiments in action! You can click on the pictures to make them bigger.

Long Overdue Update!

We have been having a wonderful time in third grade. I will try catch you up with some pictures! Enjoy!

We made Valentines for our parents. They turned out so cute. The picture below shows the front and back.

We have been working a lot on measurement. To review chapter 9 we had some fun valentine measuring stations. They were hard at work and had a great time!

A really fun project we did was the cardboard challenge. Students had to come up with a creative card board box valentine. Extra points given for a simple machine. They were amazing!

Classroom Happenings!

We have been so busy in the classroom that it has been hard to keep up with our blog. Last year the school purchased Lego kits. They are really neat and engaging! We are using an app on the iPad to create a comic strip to go along with the Lego setting created. They turned out amazing!

We had the spelling bee last week. Below are the four students who represented our class. Lily, Geneva, Hannah, and Isaiah C. Luke was also a contestant but he was home sick with the flu. They did an amazing job. It was their first spelling bee ever and they didn't even look nervous. I think I was more nervous in the crowd. I was very proud of them!

Christmas Program!

The Christmas Program the students put on was absolutely amazing! Mrs. Larson sure knows how to put on a show. I took a couple videos of the program that you can watch below. I am so proud of all the students. They put a lot of hard work into this program and it sure paid off. We also got a group picture of our class. Everyone was dressed so fancy! I sure enjoyed this evening!
Waiting so patiently!!

December

We have been very busy in our classroom. Last week was a tough week. I was gone for a technology conference on Monday and Tuesday that was very exciting and I have a lot of great ideas to bring back to our classroom. On Wednesday, I was able to be back in the classroom! But... on Thursday my daughter was sick and on Friday I got sick. We are all finally back to good health and hoping to stay that way!

We have been busy getting our classroom ready for Christmas. We made patterned stockings to make for our back bulletin board. Mrs. Anderson was the sub in our classroom when the stocking were made. They sure did turn out beautiful!

Our art project to display at the high school during the Christmas Program are below. We discussed warm and cool colors on the color wheel. They had to do either a warm snowman and a cool background or a cool snowman and a warm background. They turned out pretty neat. We have been working really hard on our cursive letters. Each student got to practice writing their name in cursive and put it on their art project to display their great work! You can click on the pictures to make them bigger. Hope you enjoy our projects!

Presents for our gift exchange are due on Wednesday. We will be having our party on Friday.

I apologize for not getting these pictures up quicker. I forgot my camera at home and was unable to upload them at school. We had a spooktacular Halloween. Our day was filled with fun! I hope you enjoy the pictures below!
