December Happenings!

We had some fun activities to keep us busy before the holiday season. One of those activities was lego robots. Groups of two students worked together to build their own lego robot by following a step by step instruction on the ipad. Once they built it they had to figure out on their own how to make it move and also made it make some sounds. I saw some excellent teamwork!

Huge thank you to Mr. Nelson for setting up the app for us and making everything work so smooth!

Kylie brought in green lefse and Eli brought in green cookies for our class to enjoy on Grinch Day

We practice our spelling words in green slime and green finger paint for Grinch Day!

We played some fun stations for our classroom party.  Thank you to Dawn, Liz, and Jeri  for volunteering to run a station for us during our classroom party. The kids had a blast and so did I!

Mrs. Halvorson made all of the gingerbread cookies for our class to decorate. We would like to send out a huge thank you to her!

Here are the girls with their gift exchange presents!

Here are the boys with their gift exchange presents!

Kylie brought in some amazing cookies to share with the class on our party day. The homemade polar bear cookies were my favorite. I believe her grandma made them. Thank you!

BreakoutEDU

We had a fun activity we did on Friday that really challenged our class. They had to use a lot of teamwork to solve the problems around the room to open three different types of locks. They had 45 minutes to work together to find clues around the room. There was a black light hidden that revealed a the code to the directional lock. On trees posted around the room were arrows showing up, down, left, right, left that opened one lock. On another lock was picture clues that gave an alphabet code. They revealed the message that said, What you hear when Santa is near? They figured out that it was bells. That opened the 5 letter lock. Last. and the trickiest for our class, was the 4 number lock. They had to do a wordsearch and the left over letters spelled out 3 Christmas songs that led them to a clue of pictures that revealed songs. Each picture matched a song and had a designated number that unlocked the lock. This class was VERY smart and unlocked all three locks with 13 minutes remaining. Inside the locked box was a cookie for each student. They were pretty proud of themselves!

Santa Came to Visit!

Santa came to visit us on Friday. Each student received a candy cane and color crayons. Second grade sends a huge thank you! :)

Virtual Field Trip

We had an awesome virtual field trip last week. The course we did from Farm Academy was called, Milk: From the Dairy to Your Door. Our instructor introduced us to the dairy industry. We were taught about dairy products, breeds of cattle, lactation, nutrition, and digestion. She also taught about milk processing methods, both past and present. We experienced how milk travels from the cow to the grocery store. It was a great experience and we are excited to try some more in the future!
